The fifth and final year of this worldwide blog event and finally I'm in... My heart is totally in bookbinding so the only thing that's right to give away is one of my books. It's a book made in my '50 books' series. Some of these I will never give away just because they aren't properly made. And with some I have a hard time giving up, because i'm attached to them one way or another. It could be a first time binding working out all right, it could be a special material used, it could be the feel of it. This book has all three and it's laying in a box begging for daylight, the OWOH event is the perfect opportunity to give it a good home ☺
i took some new photos, still not perfect but boy did I learn... |
Book #4 (☜more photos) wants to join OWOH.
15x10 cm.
It's a longstitch binding (a running stitch in this case), 12 sheets (24 pages counting each side) heavy watercolor paper. Covered with orangy/red 'elefantenhaut' paper and rinde. Sewn with thin twine. The closed book measures appr. 6x4".
Binnenin bekleed met hetzelfde elefantenhautpapier
Paste downs with the same elefantenhaut paper

It's very special to me to enter this last OWOH. Lisa thank you so much for all your hard work, it's fantastic to bring together the blogworld this way ♡
Starting midnight January 30/31 2011 all links of the participants will be posted here: click. Drawing will be February 17.
- please no anonymous entries, I need a way to contact you when you are the winner of my small book ♡
- I'm so sorry that I cannot ship this book to Australia (and maybe other countries with strict quarantine rules?) due to the bark on it (aqis info here). This only came to my mind when my post was up for some time. But please DO enter when you live in one of those countries. When you win I will make a new book strictly from materials (i.e. cloth and paper) which can be mailed safely to you ♡

Your hand bound journal is stunning. Book binding is on my list of things to try one day.
ReplyDeleteBookbinding! I doubt I have the patience to do it myself, but I have found that older books hold a special appeal for me now, especially with iPads, nooks and other book "readers." Winning one handmade would be a real treat, and something to treasure.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll drop by both of my giveaways (at Twigs and Tulle and Kindergarten's 3 R's: I'm giving away a mini bunting and some pattern blocks) during this awesome blogging event! Happy OWOH!

Very intimidating, my journal water colour cold press papers are waiting for me to bind them, but if I win your lovely book I wont fret so much.

Groetjes Rian
