On the way to Malta

...these books that is and not until tomorrow :)

Pauline from Paru's Circle is an avid embroiderer and she made two lovely minimalistic pieces to be used on books made by me. Read what she says about this work of her: click

The off-white coloured one is a hardcover casebound book and is an A6-size, appr. 15x10cm, 6x4"
The white one is a made as a 'limp binding from Talin' and is almost square, appr 10x10cm (4x4"). Cute sizes :)

Both can lay open flat (allthough you would think otherwise seeing the photos). I liked to add some fun: printed endpages in casebound one and red lining in the limp one.

More fun: a red and yellow endband/headband in the casebound book.

Hope you like the books Pauline  :)

christmas ornament swap
kersthangerswap

The Christmas ornament swap is done. Our hostess swapped all the items and all participants (except Jan in Alaska and me...) has received theirs.

De mijne zijn harmonicaboekjes geworden. Het formaat is ong. 5x5cm.
Mine are small harmonica books, size is appr. 2x2"

De buitenkant is bestempeld en in reliëf geëmbost metaalfolie.
De covers are stamped and embossed metal sheets

The pages are sprayed with a homemade glimmermix, stamped and copper heat embossed.

The embossed ornaments are filled with a lightweight filler (DIY).

I think the Christmas decoration will be put up earlier than other years in this house :)
Thanks to Daria for making this swap happen, your a wonderful hostess :)
Annie (who's cards are on the cover of latest Stampers Sampler issue WOW!), Ashalee (take a look at her digital designs!), Jan, Linda, Nancy (take a look at her wonderful rubberstamp designs!) and Tina: i cannot wait to see your ornaments...

mono-print

Today I rolled some acrylic paint on a glass panel to make leaf prints, really cool (not) ;P  But it helped me to come over some bookmaking glitches :)

who's afraid of red?

Seems I am...  I finally started in Julie's Layer Love class and decided to keep close to the example of the teach. She used red...a lot...

(click the photo to enlarge)

I kept adding and moving around paint to tone down the red :D

Hilke's pamphlet binding

Some time (well actually it was a long time) ago I won one of Hilke's pamphlet binding, she did a wonderful job. Come and take a look with me.
On the cover is in a lovely fabric in blue and white attached, it reminds me loosely of Delft blue pottery.

The inside covers are backed with blue paper and the fly leaf is a red mulberry. The book has a special binding so it 'falls' open really flat. I have to try this binding soon, so surprising.

And than... o wowzers... Her book contains two stories, one by Mark Twain and one by Michael Ende, both illustrated with lino-cuts made by Hilke herself! It's really chockfull with the most lovely illustrations. Most in black, one printed with two additional colours and one coloured by hand (i think).

She put so much thought and effort in this book. I feel a lucky lucky girl indeed!  Thank you so very much Hilke ;)

letters & paperswap

I'm not lost in space, although it may look like it :) There's just so much fun things (and work...) that puts the blog a bit on the backburner, i will be back soon, really :)
Last sunday I went to the bookbinding fair in Leiden and bought some type, should have bought some more...these make lovely decorations (that's what i'm going to use them for in the first place).

Sometime ago I joined Lawendula's paperswap and Caterina at La Dolce Vita was my partner and she send me a gorgeous decorated envelope filled to the brim with lovely paper.
I grabbed some of Cat's photos from her blog, the photos I finally took yesterday turned out all blurry...

there was lovely handmade and antique paper, cool embellishments and a piece of her own decorated pasted paper

tiny envelopes and cute birds, old book pages and tissue paper with printed numbers

look at the wonderful transfer and the wonderful artmail envelope. Caterina, thank you so much for the fun piece you sent me, love it!

glimmen
glimmery

Preparations for a swap. The mini-misters come in handy, stamping ink refillers, some shimmery pigment powder and I have my very own glimmer mist :)

A pity the shimmer isn't visible on the photo...

My recipe: 4/5 bottle (mini mister) water, 15-20 drops stamping ink refiller (I use Adirondack and Distress) and a tiny bit pigment powder. Shake and it's ready to spray.
