Gothic Arches: Handwriting

Thanks Nancy for the opportunity to host GAC this week. My theme for this week is 'Handwriting'. My own handwriting obvious doesn't deserve an award, even though I like to use it on projects. Things seems to be so more my own when i write text myself instead of printing or stamping. It just feels good to use it :)

without you here
they seem too deep, too large,
these dark woods.
Background from one of the large sheets I made lately, text written with a Sharpie acrylic paint poster marker.

Haiku: Translated from Japanese by J.van Tooren
Rubberstamp: Paperbag Studios

Thanks for your visit, I'm anxious to see all the different handwriting on arches this coming week.

WS: Hello, Sunshine

WS theme this week is Sunshine. Couldn't be better being back from a few weeks of walking, cycling, bird watchig, eating and generally being lazy in the sun :)

Gothic arch: trash

Trash...uhhhmmm I prefer 'junque', makes the mess in my small workplace sounds posh ;p
Deze week my GA is het thema: Using trash}}} gebruik afval.
This week GA's theme is: Using trash. Well I've succeeded in that: a netting from the birdfeeding table, that was empty for some time and a leather 'lip' (engl.?) from an old bicycle bag.

Je hoort de wiekslag
van vogels die de wijde
hemel doorkruisen.

GAC: Purple

Vandaag koos Nancy het thema bij Gothic Arch Challenges: PAARS.
Nancy choose todays theme at Gothic Arch Challenges: PURPLE
.

Another Haiku (see my previous post for the source):
Astonished at the moon
and infatuated with the flowers,
they wander, butterflies.

De detailphoto is way out of colour, the structure of the moon is in focus and that's why I made this pic in the first place. Wings and girl are attached with some foam tape, duckie is 'glue sticked'. I used gel medium to make the antennae a bit more sturdy.

Gemengde technieken:
Acrylverf, oliepastel, correctiepen. Collageplaatje van Gemini Angel Art

Mixed Media:
Acrylic paint, oil pastels, correction pen. Collage image from Gemini Angel Art

Roest / Rust

The heart I made on the arch for Wednesday Stamper this week is from corrugated cardboard that I 'rusted'.

I gained this effect by painting several colours acrylic paint on the heart until I liked the rusted effect. Here I used orange, blue, brown and bronze. You can click on the photo if you want a closer look.

Gothic Arch: Laugh

This one was several months of work *lol* and it's only because of the theme at WS is 'Gothic Arches' this week, that i finished it.

The tulips are transfers from newspaper photos. On the face of the girl i stamped 'laugh'.

Stamps: Green Pepper Press, Art Journey, Clubstamp, Stampers Anonymous (Tim Holz), Ma Vinci's Reliquary

Gothic Arches: Party Time!

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday...
*LOL*

Could Nancy have picked a better date to ask me to be guest hostess at GAC? That's why the only theme I could think of was "Party Time". I cannot wait to see what everybody else will be making. Thanks Nancy!

On mine: lot's of acrylic paint and glitter. I love the two vintage girls in that large overalls.

ETA: I've added the link to the original photo of the two fun girls!

Celebrating your birthday means you are allowed to treat friends. I have scanned the bg from last weeks arch for all to use. Use it as it is for an arch or cut an atc, feel free to do as you wish. I would be delighted when you let me know when you use it in a project :)

Multitasking...

This arch is made with Hermine's Autumn colour challenge at WS and Godelieve's Flower challenge at GAC in mind.

Hardly visible is the laaaaaaaarge amount of ink I used on this one.

Gothic Arch: Vacation places

To me my vacation destination doesn't matter much. That isn't completely true of course, it's just that I can enjoy every place we go. Where ever we go it's just a matter of being still and SEE. We do that, we can sit for hours on a beautiful spot just looking and when you are quiet you will become one with the surroundings, whether it is in the outdoors, a city or a museum. Love it!

That's why my contribution to Rein's challenge at GAC is more a vacation feeling instead of a vacation place.

De achtergrond: Alcohol inkt op halfglanskarton.
The background: alchol inked semi-glossy cardstock.

Gold embossed text, letters punched from aluminium tape, same tape attached to the heart. I'm thinking on putting a bird on the 'SEE', maybe later this week :)

En dan nog dit:
Something extra:

This weeks theme at GAC is 'Autumn/Fall'. Mine is a last minute entry, tomorrow is a new challenge posted!

As last week I started tearing strips of scraps. And as last week i needed some time after that to think of a theme. At one moment I saw the 'Christmas' text on one of the scraps and paging through an old library book I noticed this fab photo. From then all fell together in an eyeblink.

Ik heb deze 'De Ultieme Herfstnachtmerrie' genoemd *LOL*
I named this one 'The Ultimate Autumn Nightmare' *LOL*

The making of...

Een Drama in 8 bedrijven. (*LOL*)
A Tragedy in 8 scenes. (*LOL*)

~1~

First I teared strips of paper and glued these on the cardstock.

~2~

Flipped over and trimmed the excess of paper.

~3~

There it was my unfinished arch... would I be able to make something out of it for this weeks theme: GOLD?

~4~

Next day I noticed this newspaper photo. Newspaper photos transfer nicely most of the time and this is a painting made in the Golden Age, with some luck i can make something out of it.

~5~

First I painted a fes layers gel medium on the arch and let it dry. Then I gave the trimmed photo a layer gel medium and put it on the arch. Pressed it firmly onto it and let it dry for a 15 minutes.

~6~

All paper is removed from the picture and the background shines trough it nicely.

~7~

I painted a layer golden acrylic paint on it and let is dry for a moment. Then I swiped of all the paint that wasn't dry.

~8~

It needed some things. I added a ticket, gold painted paper lace, gold painted posh brad and some very thin kraftpaper I used as a mask once.

~Einde~
~The End~

Gouden Eeuw / Golden Age

A picture in the newspaper from a painting by Pieter Isaacsz helped with a theme for my Golden Arch. My muse isn't very helpful last days... hence all last weeks posts with only links... nice links yeah, but links no artwork at all...

Ah well, here's my Arch for Lisa Renea's theme at GAC this week: GOLD

I made pictures while creating this arch and will try to orden and post these tomorrow. It's kind of fun to see how I assembled this mess.

Todays theme at the Gothic arch challenge blog is 'Family'. Thank you Cora for this nice new theme. I'm curious to see all the lovely work we go to see this week at all blogs.

Below you can see a scrap of the paste paper I used on part of the background.

Some details from the arch itself. I attached the Dymotape and punched holes in it.

My take on
Linda's theme at the Gothic Arch challenge from this week. One of my favorite GPP birds with a Zettiology (?) eye, windows and moon from Clubscrap. The moon and bird are stamped with Broken China (Distress) and heat embossed with Wallnut Ink Distress powder, gives a neat rough effect. Windows are stamped on light blue vellum and black heat embossed, very shimmery.

*ROFL*)
The nice texture behind the arch is from a calender photo (I save EVERYTHING! *ROFL*)

ETA:

It annoyed me yesterday I posted the photo and noticed something wasn't attached properly. Made a new photo today. Can you spot the loose part on the first picture? (Nope, no prizes *lol*)

Gothic Arch: School

First weeks theme at Gothic Arch Challenge is 'school', that's some time ago for me...

The background is made with crumpled newspaper and magazine pages, glued down on cardboard, painted with watered down acrylic paint and some shimmery medium.

There are two pieces left made with this background. I especially like the parts where you can see some text through the paint. On this one the 'teachers' are glued on the text part, pity... Next time I trace the template on the front side.
