Ik wilde een nieuw notitieboekje
I wanted a new notebook

en wel graag een vrolijke
and it had to be a cheerful one 

Dus eens door de voorraad gerommeld en er lag nog een schrift van vorig jaar

(en tape van dit jaar)

So I looked through my stash and stumbled on a last years notebook

(and this years tape)

Het schrift doormidden gesneden en ik had er twee :) De nietjes heb ik laten zitten, ik hou er wel van om het niet moeilijker te maken dan het is.
(meestal dan toch)
Cut the notebook in half and I had two :) I kept the staples that were already in the spine 'cause I'm a strong believer in not making more fuss than necessary.
(at least most of the time that is)

Het werd een horizontale en een verticale versie.

Een beetje plakband doet wonderen op saaie notitieboekjes. Kwartiertje werk en je bent een orgineel aantekenboekje rijker.

A little tape works wonders on such dull note books. Less than fifteen minutes hands on and you are the owner of a one of a kind notebook.

Even over papierklemmetjes... 'k weet het niet, op een of andere manier eindig ik altijd met een paar nieuwe in m'n winkelmandje...
A word about paper clamps... I'm not sure why, one way or the other always a few new ones end up in my shopping basket...

zomerse schoenen summery shoes

Al tijden rondgelopen met het plan, eigenlijk al vanaf deze verfsessie en nu eindelijk af.
Having plans for this since this painting session and finally bit the bullet.

Deze oude schoenen waren eigenlijk op weg naar de vuilnisbak, verfspetters en al. Maar, ja, weggooien kan altijd nog, eerst nog wat lol maken. Wat beter dan wat extra verf om die spetters te verdoezelen? 
In fact my old shoes were on their way to the trash can, paint drops and all. Doing so I thought that trashing would be the last step, first have some fun with them. What else than using some extra paint to cover up the dirt?

Schilderstape hielp om de randen min of meer vrij van verf te houden.
Some painters tape kept the paint more or less from the rim.

De eerste lagen verf maakten me niet echt blij, een laag of vijf verder was ik wat gelukkiger. Als extraatje lag er nog een paar zwarte veters in de schoenpoetsdoos (jawel, af en toe poets ik schoenen).

Wat denk je, een leuk vakantieklusje op een saaie achternamiddag voor een paar pubermeiden? Het schoenen pimpen natuurlijk, niet het schoenenpoetsen :)

The first layers paint didn't 'wow' me, some five layers further I called it done. As an extra a pair of black shoe strings were digged from the shoe polishing box (yep, I do polish shoes every now and then).

What do you think, a fun activity to spice up a boring vacation afternoon for some teenage girls? Painting shoes that is, not polishing the things :)

De meeste pagina's van de 'let it loose' lessen zijn af, ik heb alle instructies uitgeprint en wilde die op een of andere manier in het journaal bewaren. Na wat heen en weer gedub een simpel hoekje achter op iedere bladzijde geplakt en de printjes er in geschoven.
Most of the pages for the 'let it loose' lessons are finished, I've printed all instructions and wanted those incorporated in the journal one way or another. After some musing I decided to go for a simple corners and slided the prints in.

Voor die hoekjes gebruikte ik de papieren zakken die AH (Nederlandse grootgrutter) ieder jaar tijdens een actie heeft. Ik vraag dan aan het eind van de actieweek een stapeltje van wat ze over hebben (een brutaal mens heeft de halve wereld...).
The corners are made from brown paper grocery bags.

Nu wil ik al heel lang een paar leuke mandjes in de garderobekast voor sjaals en andere kleine dingen en vind die maar niet.
Large paper bags are fit for a lot of things. I want cute baskets in the closet for shawls and other small items for a long time. Not finding the cute ones made me make these.

Deze zakken zijn een aardige tijdelijke oplossing...

The bags as a temporary solution, works for me...

It's been awhile since I joined Michelle Ward's Street team (over a year, I'm not sure) and this 'strip ease' was just what i needed to alter another matchbox. Over the adhered strips an alpha-helix is stenciled with watery paint (hence the blurry image), it makes the teared edges a bit too invisible, ah well...
Het is een poos geleden dat ik meedeed aan Michelle Ward's Street team (meer dan jaar misschien?) and 'strip ease' was net wat ik nodig had om weer een luciferdoosje aan te kleden. Over de opgeplakte strookjes heb ik met waterige verf een alpha-helix gestencilled (vandaar de wazige afbeelding), het verbergt de gescheurde randjes iets te goed, 't is niet anders...
