Our home is officially declared as disaster zone as I'm to busy working on my first 'commision'. The bookblocks are nearly finished, the only thing left to do is glueing on the headbands
I thought it would be nice to share the several steps making a book. These books will be codex-bound (engl.?). You prepare the bookblocks first, after that the covers and last you will paste everything together.
The first photos for this project are posted in an earlier post: click
Alle boekjes zijn genaaid.
All books are sewn.
De ruggen worden gelijmd.
Spines are being glued.
Klaar met lijmen.
Finished glueing.
Alle boekblokken schoongesneden (recht af).
All bookblocks smoothly cut (engl.?).
Ruggen overlijmen en gaas er op.
Glue the spines again and attach gauze (engl? again...).
All gauze is attached. Now it's waiting to get notified which colour headband they prefer.
Nog geen bloopers te melden... afkloppen...
No boo-boo's yet... knock on wood...
ReplyDeleteLieve groet Rini
Perfect english...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful books!! So precise..perfect.
I see you're almost out of glue there... :)
Hi Dymphie,
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh when I saw the first foto with the red, fitness
weights in the background....as I use them more for my bookbinding than for my fitness!!! I have lila ones and pink ones and black ones and a friend of mine saw them once all over my worktable and said,,,whew, you have really been working out a lot lately, no?
I said NO,,,,,and tried to explain what I REALLY use them for....she did not understand for some strange reason, I wonder why???
Great step-by-step fotos for our enjoyment .....I cannot wait to see the finished products.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful books! I wish I had your skill, I can never get things to line up quite right! :)
ReplyDeleteyour English is perfect and I can't wait to see the finished project! Congrats on your first commission!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful post! I love seeing the books you've
ReplyDeletebeen creating and the photographs you've taken during the process of it all; makes me want to get back to making them, lol!
Here in the US, the gauze you used is often called "super" or "mull" I find it along with headbands at Hollander's or Talas online {just in case any of your readers may be interested in locating it...}
