kapitaal bestekensewing headbands

Machinaal gemaakt kapitaalband heb ik in allerlei kleuren en dat gebruik ik meestal als ik bandzetters maak. Als ik een leuk stofje op de band heb geplakt dan gebruik ik dat ook wel eens om kapitaalband van te maken (klik, scroll daar naar beneden voor de detailfoto). 

In de boekbindles ben ik met een Franse band bezig en die krijgt een zelf bestoken dubbel kapitaal met 4 kleuren. Hieronder zie je m'n eerste poging. Ik miste een paar windingen...

In my stash is a wide variety of ready made headbands  and I mostly use these when I make case bound books. When I use a nice fabric on the cover than I sometimes make endbands with that fabric (klik, scroll down on that page for a detail view).

In the bookbinding class I'm making a 'French' bound book (18th century binding, not sure how it's called in English) and that one will get handsewn 4-color double headbands. Below you can see my first try. I missed a few turns...

Thuis werk ik er verder aan, we hebben een week 'vakantie' en volgende keer wil ik het kapitaal natuurlijk af hebben.

It results in homework while we have a week 'off', I want to have finished the headbands next time the lessons start again.

Dit werk zorgde er voor dat ik m'n eeuwenoude voorraadje borduurzijde heb opgegraven om garen te kiezen voor m'n tweede poging. Ik denk dat het blauw/groen gaat worden.

De opgerolde papieren strookjes linksboven in de foto liggen te drogen, dat worden de kernen voor het kapitaal.

This sewing resulted in digging up my stash of silk embroidery floss from eons ago to choose colors for my second attempt. I think I will use the blue/green floss.

The rolled paper strips upper left on the photo are drying, these will form the core for the headbands.
