Dit negende exemplaar is een eenvoudig een-katernboekje geworden. Tot ik de boeken van Keith Smith had wist ik niet beter dan dat één katern genaaidwerd met een cahiersteek, punt.
My ninth is a simple one signature book. Before I had the books of Keith Smith I was ignorant of all the different bindings one can make with one signature. I thought it was pamphlet stitch and that was it.




Deze was een feestje om te maken, met een fraai resultaat.
This one was a joy to do, with a lovely result.

De band is van Clubscrappapier, zo'n vel dat ik al veel te lang had bewaard omdat het zo mooi is...

Hoofden en bloemenHeads and flowers

Op een rest stijfselmarmer de hoofden en bloemen met Versamark gestempeld en met verschillende poeders geëmbost.
Stamped the heads and flowers on a scrap paste paper with Versamark and heat embossed with several different ep's.

Een wit geëmboste bloem op de binnenkant van de kaart geplakt.
A white heat embossed flower attached on the inside of the card.

Ik had nog bloemen over en een stukje kaartkarton: kadokaartje.
I had a flowers left and some cardstock: mini-card.

Stijfselmarmer is een eigen verfsel, de stempels zijn van Studio490.
Paste paper is home painted, rubber stamps by Studio490.

Weer een experiment, ik wilde graag een open rug met een patroon maken en heb inmiddels een paar boeken aangeschaft (Keith Smith) waarin het e.e.a. uit de doeken wordt gedaan, maar ja... dan moet je lezen en instructies volgen... dat is niet m'n sterkste kant. Dus na wat bladeren in het boek heb ik bedacht dat ik zelf wel een patroontje kon bedenken... Om een lang verhaal kort te maken: de volgende keer zal ik de aanwijzingen van een van meneer Smith z'n patronen volgen *lol*
Another experimental binding. I wanted to make an exposed spine with a cool pattern and have purchased some instruction books (Keith Smith) in which are several of these patterns explained, but than... following instructions isn't my strongest point. So after some paging I thought I could make up a pattern myself... To keep it short: next time I will follow the instructions on one of mr. Smith's patterns *lol*

De platten zijn beplakt met een restje stijfselmarmer, de katernen zijn op hetzelfde koord genaaid dat ik om de rand van de platten heb gelijmd. De bladzijdes hebben verschillende maten, leuk voor foto's (denk ik).
The boards are covered with a scrap paste paper, the signatures are sewn on the same cords I glued on the edge of boards. The pages have all different sizes, nice to put photos on (I think).

New Header

Na meer dan 2,5 jaar trouwe dienst gaat de trouwfoto van m'n grootouders in de mottenballen. En wat zou ik anders kunnen kiezen dan mijn boekenproject als nieuwe kop boven mijn blog. Nu nog een nieuw icoon maken... later...
After more than 2,5 year serving as a header on my blog I'm going to retire my grandparent's weddingphoto. What else than my book project could act as a header on my blog at the moment. Now I have to make a new favicon too... later...

Een nieuwe lading stijfselmarmersA new batch paste papers

Voorbereidingen voor de workshop die ik op 22 november bij Joan Gevaert ga geven. Deze vellen liggen nu bij haar in de winkel als showmateriaal. 's Ochtends gaan we stijfselmarmers maken en 's middags gaat Hermine uit de doeken doen hoe je stofpapier maakt. Dit wordt zo leuk.
Prepping for the class I will teach on November 22 at Joan Gevaert's shop. These sheets are now exhibited in her store. In the morning we will make paste papers and the afternoon is spend with Hermine who teaches how to make fabric paper. It will be so much fun.

Dia de Bloglandia 50 Books #7

Een feestelijk boek om goede herinneringen aan onze doden in te bewaren. Stofpapieren band, gedeeltelijk open rug, gekleurd garen en lint, fel gekleurde pagina's, getekende en geëmboste schedels. Dit is mijn eerste handgemaakte boek dat ik een naam heb gegeven: Boek van de Doden.

Fabric paper cover, partly exposed spine, coloured thread and ribbon, bright coloured pages, heat embossed handdrawn skulls.This is my first handmade book that I named: Libro de Los Muertos.

De derde week van mijn boekenproject. Ik heb, toen ik begon, overwogen om één boek per week te posten en dan zou ik 2 weken 'vakantie' over hebben. Maar heb daar vanaf gezien. Ik vind het gewoon veel leuker om er maar direct een bericht tegen aan te gooien als er weer een boek af is.
Third week in my book project. Before I started I was thinking of posting one book a week and have two weeks 'off'. But decided against that pace. It's just to much fun to share the finished books.

Boek 6 is een dikkertje geworden, ik oefen op naaien en recht afsnijden. De band is bekleed met 'stofpapier' met veel acrylverf en PVA-lijm. BOOK is er diverse malen met gesso op gestempeld. Dus nu kan ik ook nog meedoen aan WS met het open thema van deze week *lol*
Schutbladen met glimmermist en flink verdunde waterverf over Tim Holtz maskers. Katernen van HEMA bloemetjespapier en effen gekleurd papier.
Book 6 is a chubby one, I'm practising sewing and cutting straight. The cover is made with 'fabric paper' with lots of acrylic paint and PVA glue. BOOK is stamped several times with gesso. So it will count as an entry for WS' open theme from this week *lol*
End sheets decorated using glimmermist and heavily diluted waterpaint on TimHoltz masks. Signatures with solid coloured paper and flower printed paper.

Gift envelope/Kado-envelop

Een stempel niet meer gebruiken is geen optie (zie mijn vorige bericht), ik heb de c en i losgeknipt en nu kan ik weer Gefeliciteerd stempelen :)
Not using a rubber stamp isn't an option (read my previous post), I cut the c en i loose and now I'm able to correct the typo :)


Ton-sur-ton: gestempeld met Versamark en kleurloos geëmbossed. Stempels van Studio490 en Maryse Carrier (text). Ik ga nog een klitteband als sluiting op de envelop plakken, maar dat spul heeft zich verstopt *lol*
Tone-to-tone: stamped with Versamark and clear embossed. Rubberstamps by Studio490 and Maryse Carrier (text). I'm going to attach a Velcro closure on the envelope, once i've found it in my stash *lol*

Hmmpfffff- net van iemand gehoord dat er een typfout in de tekst zit... niet te geloven, ik heb die tekst talloze malen gebruikt en het is me echt nooit opgevallen... snik, kan 'm nu niet meer gebruiken...
Duh- got a notice from someone there's a typo in the text stamp... cannot believe I never noticed this myself as I used this stamp over and over again... snif, cannot use it anymore now...

50 Books: #5

Heel misschien komt dit boekje je bekend voor? Ik heb het een poos terug als halffabrikaat laten zien. Daarna heb ik het weer uit elkaar gehaald omdat ik er een leren rug voor de stevigheid aan wilde maken. Dat is nu klaar.
There is a change this book looks familiar to you. I shared it as a work-in-progress some time ago. After that I dismantled it for I wanted to add a leather spine for sturdines. It's finished now.



Het viel nog niet mee leer te vinden dat me beviel (en het mocht natuurlijk niks kosten *lol*). Uiteindelijk, diep in de kast weggestopt, vond ik een oude tas van mezelf. Als tas was het niets meer, maar het is heel mooi verweerd leer voor m'n boek!
It wasn't easy to find leather I liked (and it had to be at no expense *lol*). Finally, deeply tucked away in my closet, i found an old purse of mine. It wasn't good as a purse anymore, but the nicely weathered leather was perfect for my book!

De bijenwas op de omslag maakt het een beetje doorschijnend, heel mooi effect.
The beeswax on the cover makes it a bit translucent, so pretty.

De band bestaat uit twee vellen handgeschept papier, dat is uit nood omdat ze te klein waren. Uiteindelijk vind ik het er zo wel heel gaaf uitzien.
The cover is made from two sheets handmade paper, had to do it this way as the sheets were to small. In the end it looks so cool now.

In m'n vorige bericht beloofde ik iets over papierrichting te vertellen... dat komt een andere keer.
