Vorige week keek ik nog eens naar dit vreselijk verfwerk en bedacht dat het het best kon dienen als onderschildering voor iets heel anders. Na afgelopen vrijdag nog een beetje schaduw hier en daar en die collage is gewoon af ;)
Last week I took another look at this awful paintwork and decided it was best as an underpainting for a completely different piece. Then Last friday I posted a peek, after that I only added some shadow and declared the collage finished ;)

Het schilderwerk maakte ik op een canvaspaneel, met structuurpasta en een sjabloon wat reliëf er op aangebracht. Daarna met acrylverf verschillende transparante en dekkende lagen geschilderd. Ik gebruikte daarvoor maar 4 kleuren en vooral de combinatie Paynes Gray en Nickel Azo Yellow bleek een verrassend mooie extra kleur te geven. De andere twee kleuren waren Diarylide Yellow en Titan Buff.
The painting was started on a canvas panel, I've used modelling paste and a template to add some dimension. When the paste was dry I painted several translucent and opaque layers with acrylic paint. I only used 4 colours and especially the mix Paynes Gray with Nickel Azo Yellow surprised me a lot, in a very good way. The other two colors I used are Titan Buff and Diarylide Yellow.

Ondanks dat er geen echt focusplaatje in de collage verwerkt zit, denk ik dat het toch wel allemaal goed samengaat. Ik hoor graag of je daar mee eens bent. Ik ben een grote meid, dus kan wel wat hebben!
Even though there's no eye catching larger item placed in the collage, I think all the small images work together. I love to hear your input on this. Just say what you think of it, I have my big girl panties on!

De zon schijnt! ~ The sun is shining!

Een collega leende me een boek voor op vakantie en wanneer ik een geleend boek weer teruggeef, vind ik het leuk er een boekenlegger in te doen als dank je wel. Omdat ik de spullen toch tevoorschijn had, maakte ik er gelijk maar drie. Even terzijde, 't is toch wel ongelofelijk, mijn eerste werkje na de vakantie en die lege werktafel heeft nog ongeveer 30 cm in 't vierkant aan werkruimte over...
A collegue lent me a book to read while on vacation. When I return a borrowed book I like to do insert a bookmark as a little thank you. While at it I made a stash of three. On a side note, it's unbelievable, my first work since back from holidays and the empty work table has a a square 12" workspace left...

Ik was bijna vergeten hoe leuk het is om deze simpele kleine collagestukjes te maken.
I almost forgot how much fun it is to make these simple tiny collaged pieces.

Binnenin zit magneettape geplakt, afgedekt met washitape. Op de achterkant ook een stukje washi. De achterflap maak ik altijd net iets korter dan de voorkant. De magneettape is best sterk en zo kun je de bladwijzer makkelijker openen.
Inside is magnetic tape covered with washi tape. On the back side there's a strip washi too. I always make the back a little shorter for easy opening, as the magnetic tape is quite strong.

Gisteravond een collage op een canvas afgemaakt waar ik vorig jaar aan begon. Het is wel een beetje bont geheel geworden, niet erg doordacht allemaal, maar wel leuk om te doen. De twee kindertjes zijn mijn mam en haar oudste broer. Morgen geef ik dit canvasje aan haar. Ben benieuwd wat ze er van vind :)
Yesterday I've finished this collage on a stretched canvas I started last year. It came out as a very colourful work, not very sophisticated, but lots of fun to work on. The two kids are my mom and het oldest brother. Tomorrow I will give the canvas to her. I hope she likes it :)

De collage die ik dinsdag bij Sija begonnen was heb ik vandaag af gemaakt. We hebben met Lyra krijt over gesso gewerkt. Dat geeft lekker snel een mooie effect.
Today I've finished the collage I started at Sija's. We coloured with Lyra aquacolor crayons on gesso. This gives a cool effect very quickly.



Crazy Amigo's willen deze week gezichten zien. Dit meisje heeft wel een lief toetje :) Dank je wel Karin voor het schattige plaatje.

Sunday Postcard Art: Zetti

SundayPostcardArt: Zetti. I LOVE the example Roc made, so colourful.

Mijn eerste poging iets zetti-achtigs te maken is iets minder kleurrijk geworden. En de gestreepte paperclips moesten er gewoon op ;P
My first attempt at a zetti style postcard came out somewhat less colourful. I just had to attach the striped paperclips ;P

Het was heel leuk om te maken. Ik heb wel meer modebladen nodig, kon nergens schoenen/voeten vinden... De groene kaart is een bedrukt Clubscrappapier waarop ik met witte gelpen heb gekrabbeld. De jurk is van een stijfselmarmer (goud op wit)
Het vel waarop ik de kaart heb gelegd voor de foto is ook een van mijn stijfselmarmers.
It was fun to make, thanks for the challenge. Now I am in need of fashion magazines, couldn't find shoes/feet... The green postcard is ptinted Clubscrap paper on wich I doodled with white gelpen. The dress is cut from a pate paper (gold on white)
The backdrop for the postcard is one of my paste papers too.

Een kadootje om m'n blogbezoekers een keer te bedanken, zomaar omdat het bijna herfst is:) Het is een digitale collage die ik in Gimp heb gemaakt, ernstig geïnspireerd door de mooie plaatjes die ik zo regelmatig voorbij zie komen.

Dreams

E i n d e l i j k de moed gevonden om verder te gaan met de canvasjes waar ik tijden terug al aan begonnen was. De stroken papier die ik met zoveel zorg had gescheurd waren natuurlijk spoorloos. Ik heb nieuwe gescheurd en vastgeplakt en, jawel hoor, vond daarna de eerste weer terug... *LOL*
Nu nog een paar dagen laten liggen om te zien of ik het echt af vind.
F i n a l l y found the courage to work on the canvases I started a long time ago. Ofcourse I couldn't find the paper strips I teared so carefully back then. I teared new ones, glued these to the canvas and found the first ones back... *LOL*
Now I will let it sit for a few days to see if it's really finished.

Sometimes on the way to our dreams we get lost and find a better one.

M'n vrolijke dame heb ik een vrolijk turnpakje aangegeven, vogeltje (GPP) op de uitkijk gezet, nog wat bloemetjes in de tuin en een krul in de hoek geplakt, 'DREAMS' (Clubscrap) is gestempeld, de rest van de tekst heb ik zelf neergepend.
My cheerful lady got a fun gymnastic outfit, bird (GPP) on the look-out, some flowers in the garden and swirls in the corner.
'DREAMS' (Clubscrap) is stamped, the other text is my handwriting.

Collage challenge atc

Dit was nogal een een zware bevalling. Kristy zond een aantal mensen wat plaatjes en andere dingen om een atc mee te maken voor iemand anders. Oef, dat was schrikken toen het thema heel erg zoet bleek te zijn, niet echt mijn ding. De envelop lag maar rond te slingeren en ik er met grote bogen omheen drentelen. Tot mijn oog op de stapel postzegels viel die Lianna me een keer stuurde *licht aan* Postage People!
This was quite a challenge. Kristy sent out collage bits and pieces, to made into an atc for someone else. Oops, that was a surprise when the theme turned out to be very cute, not really my fort. The envelope was laying, waiting there on my desk and being avoided by me. Until my eye catched the postage stamps Lianna sent me once *light on* Postage People!

I added a lot of glimmermist, stamped image (Tuscan Rose) and postage stamp. The other items were in the envelope.

Collages maken is een kwestie van passen, meten, schuiven en laten bezinken.
Making collages is trying to fit papers and letting it sit for a while to see if things work.




De wit/zwarte rand vond ik te grof, dus maar wat extra streepjes erop geschilderd.
I found the black/white border to coarse and decided to add some stripes.

Vervolgens vond ik de overgang van papier naar rand te abrupt. Ik heb een klein stukje groen eronder geschoven. Leuk hoe zo'n klein stukje voor mij zoveel verschil maakt.
Next I didn't like the difference between the paper and border and added a tiny green piece. It's a minor change but I like it much better.

Alles ligt nog los, dus wie weet wordt het nog heel iets anders.

Nothing is attached yet, so we'll see if things will stay like this or not.

Ik loop wat achter met de workshop van Karyn Gartel. Dit is les 3: voeg collage elementen toe.

De foto is er een uit de familiecollectie. Er zijn niet zoveel foto's van vroeger in de familie, dit zijn mijn moeder en een van haar broers. Schattig hè?
Ik vind de bloemetjesstempels van AudDesign zo schattig, maar ze zijn een maatje te klein voor dit canvas. Dus heb ik zelf maar wat groters gekrabbeld. Ik word iedere week dapperder hihi.
The photo is from our family collection. We don't have a lot of old photos in our family, this one is from my mom and one of her brothers. Aren't they cuties?
I love the flowers by AudDesign, but they are a bit to small for this canvas. So I decided to doodle some bigger ones. I'm becoming braver by the week heehee.

De detailfoto is helemaal van slag wat kleur betreft, maar de structuur van de maan is wel duidelijk te zien zo. De vleugeltjes en het meisje heb ik met een beetje foamtape opgeplakt, de eend is gewoon 'gepritt'. De voelsprietjes heb ik eerst met een paar laagjes gelmedium verstevigd.
De detailphoto is way out of colour, the structure of the moon is in focus and that's why I made this pic in the first place. Wings and girl are attached with some foam tape, duckie is 'glue sticked'. I used gel medium to make the antennae a bit more sturdy.

Musje / Little sparrow

Mijn nieuwe liefde? Acrylverf! Dit weekend ga ik investeren in wat betere kwaliteit tubes. De flesjes die ik heb zijn oké, maar de tubes met de pasteuze verf zijn verschrikkelijk. Artifac heeft Liquitex in de aanbieding, iemand advies welke kleuren ik niet mag missen?
My new love? Acrylic paint! This weekend I'm going to invest in some nice quality tubes. The bottles I use are okay, but the tubes with the heavy body paint are horrible. A local art store has a promo with Liquitex paints, any advice on which colours are a must have?

Op mijn laatste Kelly Rae collage heb ik geprobeerd wat andere kleuren te gebruiken. Wat ik nu wel merk is dat je tijd moet nemen voor dit soort dingen. Gewoon een paar dagen laten liggen en weer een avondje er aan werken werkt voor mij het beste. Deze collage heeft tot nu 2 weken nodig gehad en ik ben nog niet helemaal zeker of het af is :)
My latest Kelly Rae collage is a try-out with other colours. I've noticed that taking time is important when making these kind of items. Leaving it for a few days and than working on it for a night seems to work best for me. This collage needed 2 weeks until now, and I'm still not sure if it's finished :)

The text is a haiku translated in Dutch by J.van Tooren. There are lots of cute haiku in that book, I like to use it a lot.

De laatste tijd ben ik niet zo actief met dingen maken en laten zien op mijn blog. Mijn schoonvader is vrij ernstig ziek geworden, hij is maandag opgenomen met een longonsteking. Af en toe steel ik een uurtje voor mezelf om toch wat te maken.
I'm not very active at the moment, creative and blogwise. My father-in-law is ill, pneumonia. He is in the hospital now. Every now and than I steal an hour for myself to work on some items.

Collage à la Kelly Rae Roberts

Ik wilde dat ik me kon focussen op één techniek, dan kreeg ik misschien iets goed onder de knie. Maar er is zóveel en ik wil het állemaal proberen, dus dat zal wel nooit gebeuren...
I wished i could focus myself more to one technique, maybe then I would master one thing really good. There is so much to choose from and I want to try it all, so let's face it: mastering one technique will never happen...



In Cloth Paper Scissors stond een paar maanden terug een artikel van Kelly Rae Roberts waarin ze uitlegde hoe zij haar prachtige collages maakt. Al vanaf ik die de eerste keer zag wilde ik zoiets proberen en deze week heb ik maar eens de stoute schoenen aangetrokken.
Kelly Rae Roberts wrote an article in Cloth Paper Scissors a few months ago in wich she explained how she makes her stunning collages. Ever since i saw these i wanted to try something like that. This week I took the plunge and had my first try.



Veel ervaring en schwung qua tekenen en schilderen heb ik niet, dus mijn meisje is wat scheef uitgevallen.
I don't have much experience and ease to draw and paint, so my girl turned out a bit a-symmetric.



Maar ja, toen ik eenmaal aan het kwasten was, was ik niet meer te stoppen en vergat ik de foto's van de tussenstappen te maken.
But once started painting I had so much fun I forgot to take more photos from the several steps.




De vogel is een stempel van Green Pepper Press, op de achterkant van het bedrukte papier gestempeld en uitgeknipt.
