Tussen de bedrijven door probeer ik me een weg door de 'texture town' lessen van Julie en Chris heen te verven. Ik ben nog niet ver, dit zijn de monsters die ik maakte met het aangereikte palet. Geweldig om te zien hoe je met een beperkt aantal kleuren veel resultaat bereikt. 
Busy as always I try to paint myself through Julie's and Chris' 'texture town' lessons. I've only come this far, paint swatches made with the suggested palet. Great to see how one achieves such different results with a limited choice in paint colors.

Ik ben zeker trots op het resultaat, geen van drie heeft veel ervaring met papierwerk. 
I'm really proud at the result, none of them is very experienced in papercrafting.

Met een vaste hand door de verf kammen om regelmatige patronen te krijgen valt nog niet mee!
To achieve regular patterns takes a steady hand to comb through the paint, not easy at all!

Verf verdelen voor kleuropbouw, nog iets dat geoefend moet worden.
Distributing the paint for color layering, another part that needs practising.

En het papier zonder ongelukken op het verfoppervlak leggen valt niet altijd mee (al geeft zo'n scheur wel een leuk effect).
And placing the paper on the paint surface isn't always easy (on the other hand a fault like this gives a cool effect)

Wie heeft er wel eens zelf skeletbladeren gemaakt? Ben ik op de goede weg? Als je op de bovenste foto klikt zie je een 'close-up'

Mijn eerste serie. Het schijnt het makkelijkst te gaan met esdoornblad, dat is voldoende aanwezig dus dat is de pan in gegaan. Gekookt in sodawater, gespoeld en daarna met een tandenborstel de pulp eruit proberen kloppen. Ben een heel eind gekomen, met wat meer geduld en voorzichtigheid zou het moeten lukken...
My first batch. I've been told maple leaves are the easiest to start with, there's an abundance of these so in the pan they went. Soaked in boiling water with washing soda, rinsed and tapped with a tooth brush to remove the pulp. I've come this far, with some more patience and care it can be done I guess.

Waarom wil ik ze zelf wil maken? Nou, gewoon, om het een keer gedaan te hebben ;D
Why I want to make them myself? Well, just because and to have done it at least once ;D

distress inktendistress inks

Mijn Distress inktkussens hadden iets nodig om beter herkend te worden. Ik zag al allerlei gave ideeën,  o.a. gekleurde randen en naamstickers. Ziet er echt mooi uit, alleen doet onze printer het niet zo goed (dus geen naamlabels) en de voorraad blanco stickers is ook niet groot (dus ook geen gekleurde randjes). Maarrrrr de Tipp-Ex pen doet het wel goed en daar heb ik er plenty van. Bovendien ben ik wat chaotisch van aard, dus een rommelig randje is dan wel passend :)
My Distress inkpads needed something to mark the colors. I did see some lovely ideas already, e.i. colored sides and name stickers. Looks really sophisticated, the only con's are that our printer is disfunctioning (no printed name labels for me) and blanc stickers are not ready available in tha house (no colored sides for me). Correction fluid pens on the other hand I have plenty and those are in better shape than the printer. Furthermore I'm a bit chaotic in nature so messy sides are fitting :)

Maar omdat het patroon van Judith er een is voor de Scorpal heb ik toch maar besloten het mijne op m'n blog te plaatsen, het was trouwens toch al klaar :D
Judith's template is especially suitable when you have a Scorpal, so I decided to post mine anyway, besides that I had it ready to go :D

in dit doosje passen 3 gewone theelichten met een brandduur van 6 uur.

3 regular tea lights with a 6 hour burning time will fit in this box
score the dashed lines, cut the solid lines 

Het doosje is te maken uit één vel A4 papier, ik heb stevig scrapbookpapier en kaartkarton gebruikt. Dunner gaat wel maar dan gaat het 'raampje' wat meer 'hangen'. Als je dubbelzijdig gedecoreerd scrapbookpapier hebt, ben je na het snijden en rillen al bijna klaar. Van de restjes kun je nog een bijpassend kaartje of label maken.
You can make the box out of one A4 sized sheet, a 8,5 x 11" is suitable too. I used 12x12" scrapbook cardstock. When you use a light weight paper the 'window' will bow out a little. Using double sided dsign paper makes this a very easy and quick project, score, cut, ready! The scraps can be used as an additional tag or giftcard.


Een paar tips:

• ik sneed het vel eerst op maat: 20 cm breed, de lengte van het papier (de grote flap) sneed ik pas af nadat het doosje klaar was
• eerst alles rillen, ook de snijlijnen, vind ik makkelijk. Dan kun je daarna, waar nodig, over de rillijn snijden
• het flapje, dat aan de achterkant naar binnen gevouwen wordt, iets korter dan 4,5 cm snijden. Dan past het goed
• alle kleine flapjes schuin wegsnijden zorgt voor een mooi afgewerkt doosje
• m'n eerste: klik

A few tips:

• I cut the cardstock at size in the width first, the lenght (the back) I cut of when finished the box. That way I could decided what height I liked most
• first scoring all lines and than cutting works best for me. I used the scoring lines to cut straight
• when you make the back flap a little shorter than 4,5 cm it fits perfectly inside
• cutting all small flaps slightly mitered gives a finished look

als je goed kijkt zie je dat ik per ongeluk de zijflapjes schuin heb weggesneden :)
this one is made with scrapbook paper only,
when you take a close look you will notice I mitered the sides too by accident :)

Werkwijze:

• karton op maat snijden: 20 cm breedte
• rillen in de lengte op 1,5 en 4 cm aan weerszijden
• rillen in de breedte, vanaf de onderkant, op 4,5 - 7 - 11,5 - 14 cm
• patroon op de aangegeven lijnen snijden
• de flapjes een beetje schuin wegsnijden
• het raampje uitsnijden, teken daarvoor vanaf de rillijnen op 1 cm een lijn af (ik sneed de onder- en bovenkant op resp. 0,9 en 0,8 cm vanaf de rillijn, dat vind ik mooier ogen)

How-to:

• cut the card stock to size in the width, 8"
• score the lenght at 0,6" and 1,6" at both sides
• score the width at 1,8" - 2,8" - 4,6" - 5,6"
• cut the template at the lines
• miter the flaps
• cut the window, measure 0,4" from the score lines (I cut it slightly smaller  at bottom and top of the window for a better look)

Judith (van Ludiec) heeft in de nieuwste ASMagazine een leuk theelichtjesdoosje staan (pag 4). Er stond geen patroon bij en vandaag heb ik geprobeerd er een na te maken, dat is gelukt. Het patroon dat ik er voor maakte zal ik later deze week op m'n blog zetten, nog een beetje bijschaven :)


Judith (from Ludiec) has a cute candle light box in the latest ASMagazine (page 4). There was no template with it and today I tried to make one too, it worked. I will post my template later this week, it needs some fine tuning :)

Vorig week zei ik al dat ik een 'chevron' (Chevron Stamp Tutorial/Addiction) wilde gutsen, dat heb ik het afgelopen weekend gedaan :) Julie heeft gelijk, één is geen...
