Uurwerk/Timepiece

Zo een week geen berichtjes en zo twee op een dag, het kan verkeren... Hier is dan mijn uurwerkje voor Wednesday Stampers, op het nippertje. Het is weer een 'Gotiekje' geworden, daar ben ik nog op aan het oefenen, dus da's twee vliegen in een klap!
One week no posts and now two on a day, what's up with that... Here's my last minute timepiece for Wednesday Stampers. It's a 'Gotic Arch' page again, I'm still practising to get used to this format.


Simpel gemaakt, een bedrukt papier en zakhorloge van Clubscrap, plaatje uit de vintage pool, letters van POD. Het zakhorloge is geëmbossed en hangt los te wiebelen aan de koordjes.
It's a simple one, patterned paper and timepiece from Clubscrap, photo from vintage pool at Flickr, alpha from POD. The timepiece is heat embossed and is attached to the page with a purple string.

Op het plaatje heb ik het meisje haar mond en een paar rozen digitaal ingekleurd. Het patroon van het gotiek is te vinden op Belinda Schneider's blog.

Gotiek/Gothic Arches

In een van mijn Yahoo groepen zijn we bezig een swap op te zetten met 'Gothic Arches' als vorm. We zijn een internationaal zootje en willen toch allemaal hetzelfde formaat maken zodat de stukken aan elkaar gemaakt kunnen worden als een soort boekje. Je wilt niet weten hoeveel mail er al heen en weer is om dit voor elkaar te krijgen... *lol* Uiteindelijk gaat tante Post ons uit de brand helpen, gewoon een simpele harde kopie met het patroon dat we allemaal kunnen gaan gebruiken. Tot zover de digitalisering, zelfs pdfjes willen in verschillende landen in verschillende formaten uitgeprint worden, wie had dat nu gedacht... *grijns* Het orginele patroon kun je vinden op het blog van Belinda Schneider.
In one of my Yahoo groups we are busy setting up a swap with 'Gothic Arches'. We're an international bunch and want each to make the same size as the others so we will be able to bind the pages in some kind of a book. You don't want to know how many mail we sent to figure this out... *lol* Finally we decided to send a hard copy of the template by snail mail. So far for virtual templates, even the pdf files wanted to print themselves in different sizes in different countries, who could have think of that... *grin* The original template can be found at Belinda Schneider's blog.


Nou ja, in ieder geval ben ik vast gaan proefdraaien en heb er nu twee gemaakt. De eerste heb ik al hier en daar laten zien. Ik heb er alleen nog wat schaduw opgezet links van het meisje, dan leek het toch meer "af".
Well, I've started anyway to warm up for the swap and have finished two pages so far. The first one is allready been showed in my group, I've added some extra shadow left of the girl to keep the lay-out more in balance. I like it better now.

Het bovenste deel van de achtergrond heb ik zelf gemaakt, wat verschillende kleuren inkt over een vel wit papier poetsen en daar overheen stempelen met dezelfde kleuren.
De stempels zijn van Ma Vinci's Reliquary, Green Pepper Press en Purple Onion Design. Het meisje is gevonden bij de gedeelde vintage foto's van Flickr.
The upper part of the bg I've made myself. Dtp'd several colours ink on a white sheet of paper, overstamped with the same colours ink.
The rubber stamps used are from Green Pepper Press , Ma Vinci's Reliquary and Purple Onion Design. The little girl is found at the vintage images pool at Flickr.

De tweede heeft een randje met kapitaalband en een paar epoxy stickertjes. Verder een geprinte achtergrond op Basic Grey papier. De witte krullen zijn met gesso gestempeld.
Second one has a border from some bookbinding ribbon (don't know the English term for it, sorry) and epoxy stickers. The bg is printed on Basic Grey paper. The white swirls are stamped with gesso.

Vandaag heb ik mezelf een vroege nacht beloofd, alleen een kaartje (dat toch al bijna klaar was) afmaken en wat bloghoppen ;o))
I promised myself an early night sleep, only finishing one card (that was almost ready) and some bloghopping ;o))



Mijn kaartverhaaltje voor vandaag:
'Mark en Bob zingen alletwee in het jongenskoor en zitten ook allebei in meester de Rooij's klas. Ze zijn niet zo weg van rekenen zoals hij, maar ze houden wel alletwee van een spannend verhaal en daar is hun meester ook een kei in'.
My card story for today:
'Mark and Bob are both singers in the boys choir and they are both in headmaster de Rooij's class. They aren't as keen on ciphering as he is, but the boys like a good story and their teach is great in that too'.

Het Basic Grey papier maakt het wel heel eenvoudig om dit soort kaarten te maken, als je begint is het al bijna klaar.
De vogel en tekst stempels zijn van Green Pepper Press (liedtekst van Paul McCartney), schoolbordletters zijn ook gestempeld, daar weet ik geen fabrikant van. De jongetjes heb ik ergens van het internet vandaan en weet niet meer waar... Wie wel?

The Basic Grey papers as a base make it so easy to create these kind of cards, it's almost done when you start, believe me ;o))
Bird and text rubber stamps are both from Green Pepper press (lyrics by Paul McCartney), blackboard letters are stamped to, don't know the manufacturer. I've found the boys somewhere on the internet, don't recall where... Who knows?

Nancy: the songtext I used yesterday is from Christine McVie, as close to Stevie Nicks as one can get I guess :o))

Nog een collage kaart/Another collage card

Het lijkt erop dat ik compleet verslingerd ben aan de collage kaarten op het moment ;o))
It seems I'm completely into the collage cards at the moment ;o))
Thom zit bij juf Linda in groep 3 en vandaag brachten alle kinderen een foto mee van toen ze baby waren. Hier zit hij samen met 2 grote neven op de bank bij oma, hij was toen nog de jongste van de familie. Inmiddels is hij ook een grote broer voor zijn zusje Louise en daar is hij maar wat trots op.
Thom is in miss Linda's class, grade 1 and today all the children brought a photo from when they were a baby. Here he is with two older cousins on grandma's couch, he was the youngest in the family then. Now he is an older brother to his little sister Louise himself and he sure is proud of it.

Dit is leuk / This is fun

Vandaag zag ik tijdens mijn dagelijks blogrondje een leukigheidje bij Wednesday Stampers en Hermine's place: 'Snap Preview'. Als je met de cursor over een link gaat krijg je een preview te zien. Geweldig "hè?. Ik vond natuurlijk dat ik dat ook 'nodig' had. *lol* het blijft leuk te knoeien in de HTML van het blog.
When I visited Wednesday Stampers and Hermine's place today I noticed a fun tool: 'Snap Preview'. When you move the cursor over a posted link a preview will appear. How cool is that? I decided that I 'need' this little tool on my blog too *lol* it's fun to play in the HTML of the blog.

Twee collagekaarten/Two collage cards

Als ik collage kaarten aan het knippen, plakken en stempelen ben is het leuk om verhalen te verzinnen over de mensen op de foto's.
When cutting, stamping and glueing collage cards with old photos I'm making up stories of the people featuring the pics.




Deze familiefoto is door papa in zijn broekzak meegedragen tijdens zijn lange reizen als kapitein op een oceaanstomer. Hij moest de foto een paar keer repareren en gebruikte kleine stukjes tape om maar niets van het plaatje te moeten missen. Hij stuurt brieven en ansichtkaarten aan z'n vrouw en kinderen waarin hij hen verteld dat hij ze mist en dat hij heel graag weer snel thuis wil zijn...Here's a family photo carried by daddy in his pocket on his long trips as a captain on a ocean steamer. He had to repair it a few times and he only used tiny spots of tape so there wouldn't get too much lost of the image. He sends letters and postcards to his wife and children, telling he misses them and he is longing to be home soon...





Dit hier is hoofdmeester Willem de Rooij, hij heeft een zwak voor rekenen en vogels. Hij vindt niets leuker dan te zien dat de kinderen ontdekken hoe mooi de wereld van getallen in elkaar steekt. En als een van de kinderen in de klas uit het raam naar buiten staart omdat er een vogel op het schoolplein hupt, moet hij moeite doen niet mee te gaan staren.
This is headmaster Willem de Rooij, he has weakness for ciphering and birds. He loves it when the children discover the beauty of the world of numbers. And when one of his pupils stares out of the window because there's a bird hipping on the school playground he has to tell himself not to go staring too.

Party Time!

Nog een 10x10cm kaartje, het is zo'n leuk formaat. Weer een postzegelkaart voor Wednesday Stampers. De feestende meisjes zijn van het internet (art-e-zine als ik het goed heb), een randje met de figuurschaar geknipt. Poststempels uitgeknipt van het restje van de vorige kaart, letters van POD en feestkrullen van GPP , achtergrondpapier van Basic Grey.
Another 10x10cm (4x4") card, it's such a fun size. And it's a Wednesday Stampers faux postage card again. The party girls are found on the internet (art-e-zine I think), trimmed with decorative scissors. Cancellation mark cut from the scraps of a former card I made, alpha from POD, party swirls from GPP, bg paper from BG.

Geloof me, in het echt is de kaart vierkant, recht en niet gevlekt... *lol*
Believe me, IRL the card is square, straight and not spotted... *lol*

Faux Postage/Namaak Postzegels

Eerst wil iedereen eens een grote DANKJEWEL geven voor al het lieve commentaar dat ik steeds onderaan mijn berichtjes vind. Dat is echt zo hartverwarmend en toch ook wel een grote reden om regelmatig iets te posten. Nogmaals DANK!

Deze week is het thema bij Wednesday Stampers (namaak) postzegels, dat is een favoriet onderwerp van mij.
Ik ben nog steeds de fijne kneepjes van papiercollages aan het ontdekken. Op deze 10x10 cm kaart heb ik wat scrapboek papier gebruikt, bruin papier plakband en een scan van de adreszijde van een antieke ansichtkaart. De mannen op de postzegel zijn van het internet.
Ook nog wat stempelwerk: de tekst Art Postale met blauwe en een beetje zwarte inkt. Het postmerk op de zwemmers-postzegel is ook gestempeld.
This weeks theme at Wednesday Stampers is Faux Postage, that's an old favorite of mine.
I'm still in the process learning how to make a paper collage. On this 10x10cm (4x4") card I've used some scrapbook paper, a scan from the adres part of an antique postcard and some brown tape. The men on the postage stamp are found on the internet.
There is some rubberstamping too: the cancellation mark on the swimmers stamp and the text Art Postale, I added some blue and black ink on that stamp.

Collage kaarten/cards

Dit soort kleine kaartjes is ideaal om restjes op te verwerken, het formaat is 10x10 cm.
This kind of cards is ideal for using up scraps, size is 10x10 cm (4x4").

Mevr. Smith's foto is bewerkt met een schaar, ik heb ergens op mijn tafel zo'n handig apparaatje liggen en dat ding heeft zich goed verstopt... Daarna heb ik er nog wat Antique Linen Distress inkt overheen geveegd. het bloemengaas is op het kaartje vast geniet.
I've distressed Mrs. Smith's pic with scissors, I do have a cool tool to do this kind of thing and I think it is somewhere on my desk hiding... After that I distressed some more by adding Antique Linen Distress ink. The flower decoration mesh is stapled to the card.

Mej. Richmond heeft een achtergrond van dezelfde stapel restjes gekregen, wat bruin plakband en een rijtje gestempelde nummers.
Ms. Richmond got a background from the same stash of papers scraps as Mrs. Smith has and a row of stamped numbers.

Het valt nog niet mee om het niet te rommelig te maken...

Distress & Castaway: testvel/test sheet

Dit is een vel dat ik een tijd terug op mijn vorige blog heb gepost. Misschien is het handig om zo inzicht te krijgen hoe die twee inkten met elkaar reageren.

This is a sheet I posted some time ago on my former blog. I think it can be helpful to visualize how the inks react with each other.

De zwart inkt doet niets met Castaway, alle andere kleuren geven een heel leuk effect
The black ink doesn't react with Castaway. all the other colours give a neat effect.

'n boel vorm/lots of shape

Het thema van Wednesday Stampers is deze week "Vorm", op deze Circle journal pagina's is een boel vorm verwerkt, dus dat past wel goed in die uitdaging. *LOL*
Wednesday Stampers theme this week is "Shape", on these Circle Journal pages there's a lot of shape, so it fits perferct in that challenge. *LOL*

Toen dit boek arriveerde zat ik een beetje vast. De huisvorm vond ik prachtig, maar wat hierop te maken??? Gelukkig werd de doorzenddatum een maand verplaatst en kon mijn idee langzaam vorm(!) krijgen. Na verschillende valse starts is het dan uiteindelijk dit geworden. Vorm genoeg: labels, hartjes en een huisje.
When this book arrived I was a bit blocked. I loved the house shape of it, but had no idea what to make on the pages. Luckily the mail date was extended with one month and my idea could take shape(!) slowly. After several unsuccessfull attempts I finally made the pages and I actually like the result. There's plenty of shape: tags, hearts and a little house.

De hartjes zijn gestempeld op het voorbeeld vel dat ik deze week gemaakt heb voor de Distress&Castaway. De labels zijn geknipt op een vel dat met Distress inkt is bestempeld. In het echt zijn de kleuren warmer.
The hearts are stamped on the Distress&Castaway sheet I made last week as an example. The tags are trimmed from a stamped Distress sheet. The colours are warmer IRL.

Nepfamily/Faux family

Deze nepfamily van drie personen heb ik gemaakt tijdens een workshop bij Friederike. De kaarten zijn ong. 15x15 cm en niks gestempeld, alleen bedrukt papier en rommeltjes. Hmmm... toch één stempeltje, papa heeft een postmerk op de postzegels gestempeld gekregen.
This faux family of three is made at a class teached by Friederike. the cards are 6x6 inch and there is no stamping in sight, only pp and found objects. Hmmm... there is one stamp, daddy has a cancellation mark stamped on the postage stamps.

Aan mij de eer om dit nieuws wereldkundig te maken, ik voel me vereerd hoor, want ik zie haar toch als mijn stempelmentor (ja, da's geen geslijm Hermine, dat is gewoon echt zo *lol*). Ik heb in de loop van de tijd zo ontzettend veel van haar geleerd, vooral het niet bang zijn voor KLEUR kan ik helemaal aan haar toeschrijven.

Distress&Castaway

Een snel voorbeeld gemaakt om te laten zien hoe ik de Distress met Castaway inkt combineer.
Made a quick example to show how I combine Distress & Castaway ink.

Breng de Distress inkt direct met het stempelkussen op wit papier aan, even laten drogen en daarna met Castaway de krullen stempelen. Nu ong. 5 minuten laten intrekken. Wit papier erop leggen en strijken met een heet strijkijzer. Af en toe even kijken of de Castaway al opbleekt. Even af laten koelen, de zwarte bloemetjes stempelen en uitknippen.
Apply Distress ink direct to the paper with the inkpad, let dry for a moment and stamp swirls with Castaway. Now keep away from it for about 5 minutes. Put a white paper on top and start ironing with a hot iron. Take a peek now and then to see if the Castaway is reacting. After cooling stamp the flowers with black ink and trim.

Het lijkt wel een beetje op serendipity.
It's kind of serendipity.

Met de restjes van de verjaardagskaart heb ik nog een paar mini bloemenkaartjes gemaakt. Leuk voor aan een kadootje of bosje bloemen.
With the left overs from the birthday card I made some mini flower cards. Nice to use as a gift tag or as a bouquet tag.

Bloemetjes/Flowers

Maar eens goed aan dit nieuwe jaar begonnen en een verjaardagskaartje gemaakt voor een tante van manlief.

Started well this New Year and made birthday card for an aunt of DH.

De schattige bloemetjes van Aud Design zijn uitgeknipt uit papier dat met Distress en Castaway inkt is gestempeld. De lichte bloemetjes zijn gestempeld met Castaway op een restje (heel oud) Clubscrap papier, goed in laten trekken en met een strijkijzer opgelicht.

The cute flowers from Aud Design are trimmed from paper that I stamped with Distress and Castaway ink. The light flowers are stamped with Castaway om a scratch (very old) Clubscrap paper, let it adsorb for a good 5 minutes and ironed to lighten.

De bloemetjes zijn opgeplakt met foamtape. Om dat te laten zien heb ik nog geprobeerd mijn digi tot leven te wekken, er is zelfs nog een foto uitgerold... maar helemaal scherp krijg ik het niet... (nog even sparen voor een nieuwe ;o)) Het is dus de scan met de kleuren die niet helemaal jofel zijn of de foto die wazig is, dat zijn weer een paar uitdagingen voor dit nieuwe jaar *LOL*

The flowers are attached with foam tape. To show the dimension I've tried to reanimate my digi... it managed to take a pic, a bit blurred though... (still saving for a new one ;o))
So it's the scan with strange colours or the blurred photo, seems I've started with some challenges this new year *LOL*
