vagabond als 'drukpers' vagabond as 'printing press'

Die lino's van gisteren stempelen wat moeilijk mooi af als je het met de hand doet en gewone stempelinkt gebruikt. Eerder gebruikte ik daar al m'n boekenpers voor en kostte nogal kracht en een boel tijd. Nu met de 'Vagabond' op tafel moest ik die natuurlijk eens uittesten. Het resultaat? Heel mooi!
Yesterday's lino cuts print a little hard when doing this by hand and using ordinary stamping ink. Earlier I used by book press for printing and that works nicely, but takes some elbow grease and time. Now with the 'Vagabond' on the table I had to test it. The result? Very nice!

Toen wat verschilende lagen op elkaar gepast en ben aan de veilige kant gebleven qua hoogte. 
Grote plaat (solo platform), single shim, kaartkarton, lino en standaard snijplaat, gaf samen een goede hoogte. De volgende keer leg ik er wat extra papier of karton tussen, kan best vermoed ik zo.
After that I mixed and matched several layers and kept on the safe side for total thickness of the stack. I used: solo platform, solo shim, the cardstock and a cutting plate to get the right height. Next time I will add some extra cardstock to add little to the thickness.

wat kleine lettertjes:
Bij mij werkt het prima, als je dit ook wilt uitproberen doe je dat vanzelfsprekend op eigen risico. De machine kan het prima aan, toch ben ik gestart met een wat minder hoge stapel, gewoon om aan de veilige kant te blijven.

Vorige week liet ik de atc zien die ik met Evelyn ruilde. Van haar kreeg ik een hele fraaie atc terug, verpakt in een mooie envelop, samen met een door haar ontworpen illustratie, supermooi allemaal! (klik op een van de foto's om het blog van Evelyn en haar zus te bezoeken)

Eigenlijk voor een collega die 40 jaar bij ons werkt. Ik ga het label op een kaart plakken of ik maak misschien een nieuwe...
Actually it's made for a collegue who is working 40 year in the lab. I'm planning to use it on a card or maybe I will make a new one...

Uitgestanste letters en hartjes. Geëmbost reliëf op de hartjes, gesso + reliëf op golfkarton, kraaltjes, kant, metallic geverfde kraal bovenaan.

De hartjes zijn gestanst uit bubbelpapiertjes die ik terug vond in dit bakje: klik. De letters in twee lagen zag ik al eerder bij Godelieve en Anneke.

Die-cut hearts and letters. Embossed texture op de hartjes, gesso + embossing on corrugated cardboard, beads, lace, metallic painted bead on top.

The punched herts are from bubble paper found back in this box: click. I've spotted the two-layered letters earlier at Godelieve's and Anneke's blogs.

De topkraal is een dikke houten kraal uit een speelgoeddoos, beetje acrylverf doet wonderen.
The top bead is a fat wooden one from the toy box, a little acrylic paint does wonders.

Een leuke techniek die ik ooit van Eefke Moes te horen kreeg, deze staat niet in haar boekje (dat uitverkocht is), maar is zo leuk en simpel om te doen.
A fun technique I've been told by Eefke Moes, it's not in her book (which is sold out), but so very fun and easy to do though.

Je kleurt een stukje kaartkarton of ander stevig papier, Eefke gebruikte pastelkrijt, ik nam Distress inkt.
Vul een ondiep bakje met een laagje water en druppel er wat nagellak op in één of meerdere kleuren. De nagellak loopt uit en vormt een vlies.
Schep nu met je papier onder het nagellakvlies door en haal het vlies naar boven.
Laten drogen en daarna eventueel met een paar laagjes Diamond Glaze (of Glossy Accents) aflakken.


Color een piece of cardstock or any other firm paper, Eefke used soft pastel, I used Distress ink.
Take a shallow tray with some water, drip a few drops nail polish on the water surface in one or more colors. The polish will spread and form a film.
Now scoop under the nailpolish film with your paper and bring it up.
Let dry. If you want you can add add some coats Diamond Glaze (or Glossy Accents) when the piece is completely dry.

Een stempel ininkten met een Sharpiestift werkte perfect om afdrukken te maken op de laag Glossy Accents.
Inking a rubber stamp with a Sharpie marker worked just fine to make an impression on the Glossy Accents coating.

Nu op zoek naar gekke kleuren nagellak...

schelpen en zeeboontjes: 0,5 (en kleiner) tot 2,5 cm
shells and sea urchins: from  0.2" (and smaller) to 1"

zeeboontjes, er liggen er duizenden op het strand bij de zandmotor, een paar dozijn belandde in mijn zak en drie daarvan op deze atc
sea urchins, they look a bit like tiny sand dollars, there are thousands on the beach, a few dozen ended up in my pocket and three of those on this atc

nu hopen dat ze het reisje per post ongeschonden zullen doorstaan
here's hoping they will travel by post unharmed

Weer eens een verse atc gemaakt, alleen maar omdat het mapje met ouwetjes spoorloos is en ik 'een zeker iemand' een atc-ruil beloofde... Ik heb wel andere dingen teruggevonden, o.a. de kaartenhouder, te gebruiken met foto's te maken (foto 2), een paar kartonnen 'zoekers' in verschillende formaten, lang geleden gemaakt en een doosje hele kleine schelpjes (foto 1).
Made a fresh atc, only because the binder containing the oldies is hiding somewhere and I promised 'a certain someone' to exchange an atc... I did find other things back though, including the card holder to use when making photos (pic 2), some cardboard view finders in various sizes I made long ago and a small box tiny shells (pic 1).

Het was echt een perfecte dag gisteren (op een verkouden neus na dan), prachtig weer, een gezellige lunch en de brievenbus gevuld met handgemaakte kaarten (foto's volgen). Dank je wel voor de felicitaties ♥
It was the perfect day, yesterday (besides a nose cold that is), lovely weather, a chatty lunch and a letterbox filled with handmade cards (photos to come soon). Thank you for the well wishes ♥

De vierkantjes op dit kaartje maakte ik van restjes kalenderblad waar ik enveloppen uit maakte. Uitgeponst en met de hoekronder hier en daar afgerond, een bakje stempels uit de kast en zomaar wat willekeurigs gestempeld. Op een wit kaartje geplakt met foamtape en met acryl inkt erover gespetterd.
The squares on this card are made from scraps from calender pages, the ones I used to make envelopes out. Punched with a square punch and some corners rounded with a corner rounder. Pulled a tray rubber stamps into the light and stamped random images. Attached the squares on a white panel and splashed with acrylic ink.

A5 kaartkarton is me vaak net iets te klein voor een vierkante kaart, hier heb ik de kaart uit het midden dubbelgevouwen, op 11,5 cm, vierkant gesneden en een restje gebruikt om het randje op te vullen.

DIN A5 cardstock is often a bit too small for my liking to make a square card, in this case I folded it at 11,5cm, cut to square and used a scrap to fill the side.
